Neuroscience

RMC Group supports neuroscience research with various products. Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body, and its function in the brain is crucial. Our product range includes a wide selection of antibodies targeting proteins involved in the binding and transport of Ca2+. The extensive portfolio of labelled vitamins is a powerful tool for understanding the role of various processes in the brain, particularly the synthesis of neurotransmitters, in which vitamin B6 plays a crucial role.

Cancer research

We support research aimed at combating cancer and we understand its biological mechanisms. In diagnostics, for example, Swant’s calretinin antibodies are widely used to characterize malignant mesothelioma. Several cytotoxic compounds, such as demecolcine, are part of our portfolio of small molecules. This compound can be used as a research tool, while its efficacy as a microtubule depolymerizing agent has been described in vitro in various publications. We are also active in the analysis of cytotoxic substances in the air or water with RMC's exclusive product TENAX®.

Volatile components (VOC’s)

The analysis of volatile components requires an inert material that can readily react with compounds dispersed in the air, water, or another matrix. In recent years, various groups have shown great interest in the analysis of impurities with a potentially toxic or harmful effect on humans and animals. We also supply reference material regarding the coating of metal cans. The presence of residues of epoxy compounds originating from packaging in foodstuffs is a very serious problem for food safety.

Metabolism

Pesticides and their metabolites are found everywhere and pose an ever-increasing problem to human health. Contamination of water, soil and food is a serious issue in our society. We have developed an adsorbent for sampling these matrices, and additionally, we can supply a number of commonly used pesticides (and their metabolites) as reference material. Most are available in a stable isotope labelled version. Our analytical department can offer expertise in the development of methods for the analysis of metabolites. If a compound is not available, our synthesis services devision can prepare the required reference material at the milligram to gram level.

DNA/RNA synthesis and products for orthogonal reactions in chemical biology

Our years of experience in nucleic acid chemistry have helped us compile a catalogue of building blocks and reagents that support research groups in the modification (or synthesis) of RNA and DNA oligonucleotides. Linkers and other reagents can be used by research groups to modify macromolecules in vitro via phosphorus chemistry.
