The relevance of calcium-binding proteins as selective markers for specific cell groups is widely recognized. Antibodies against these macromolecules provide important insight into the structure of complex tissues, such as brain and cancer cells. However, they can also support tissue analysis using immunoblotting techniques.

With Swant, three key players in the brain can be identified: calbindin, calretinin, and parvalbumin. The different species specificity always offers the researcher the appropriate orthogonal tools that can be used together with other primary antibodies.

Swant antibodies against Ca²⁺-binding proteins are primarily used in neuroscience, cell biology, and biomedical research.

They are mainly research tools for detecting and studying calcium-regulating proteins. Their main applications are immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, western blotting, and neuroscience research. There they help identify specific cell populations, map neural circuits, and investigate diseases associated with disrupted calcium signaling.

By detecting these proteins, researchers can study -amongst others- calcium signaling pathways, neuronal populations and neural circuits, cell differentiation and development, neurodegenerative diseases and neurological disorders, muscle physiology and contraction mechanisms, and cellular calcium homeostasis.

  • You can dissolve the pellet in a corresponding amount of bi-distilled water.

  • The concentration can only be determined for our purified monoclonal antibodies. You can find it on the product information sheet.

  • We can provide an estimated concentration for standard staining. However, you should perform a calibration experiment with different concentrations to determine the correct concentration for your setup.

  • Please visit our webshop. For every product for which a user manual is available, it can be downloaded directly from the relevant product page.

  • No, our products are lyophilized antiserum (the polyclonal antibodies) or concentrated supernatant (for the monoclonal antibodies). Refrigeration is not required for transport. For long-term storage, you can store small portions of 1-2 μl at -80 °C (or at least -20 °C).
